Youth Empowerment and Sports Department State NSS Cell, Bengaluru along with National Service Scheme of Mangalore University and Padua College of Commerce & Management, Nanthur, jointly organised National Integration Camp. This Camp was held for NSS volunteers of various Universities in Karnataka, from 23rd February to 1st March, 2021 at Padua College of Commerce and Management.

To mark the beginning of this camp a Cultural Procession was held at 3 pm on 23rd February where the participants represented their culture by wearing their traditional attire. The Inaugural Programme was organised after the Cultural Procession at the Padua Open Air Stage at 5 pm. Prof. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University was the President for the Inaugural Programme. Sri J.R. Lobo, KAS, - Ex MLA & Ex Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation and Prof. Vineetha K. Rai - Ex. NSS Co-Ordinator were the Chief Guests. The Guest of Honour was Rev. Fr. Vincent Monteiro - Correspondent, Padua Educational Institutions Nanthur, Mangaluru.

After the Inaugural Programme the campers were given important instructions regarding the rules and regulations to be followed during the camp and were divided into five groups namely Ganga, Nethravathi, Phalguni, Kaveri and Yamuna.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In addition to the regular activities of the camp i.e. Flag hoisting, Shramadan and Cultural program, many educative programs were organized for NSS campers daily from 24th February to 1st March.

Every morning the campers were taught Yoga by Mr Kushalappa, Yoga Instructor and Research scholar in Yoga, followed by the Flag Hoisting. Various guests were invited daily to hoist the flag. The campers rendered their service through Shramadana in the Padua College Ground and the Adopted Government Schools of Padua College of Commerce and Management. The campers were enlightened with many Educational Seminars throughout the week. The various seminars and the resources persons were – Waste Management by Prof. Vinitha K., Ex. NSS Co-Ordinator, Water Resource Management by Dr. N.M. Joseph Principal, Sacred Heart College, Madantyar, Secrets of Success by Prof. Shikaripura Krishnamurthy and NSS and Human Relations by Dr. Subbappa, Principal, GFGC Uppinangady.

Cultural activities such as Cultural Exchange and Cultural programs were also organised. The Campers introduced and exchanged their different culture through innovative methods after the morning sessions. In the evenings, a cultural program was given by the campers to entertain the other campers as well as the people in and around the locality. On the sixth day, the campers were to some of the famous places in and around Mangalore like Karkala Gomateshwara, Thousand pillar Basadi and Pilikula.

The one week National Integration Camp concluded on the seventh day with the Valedictory Function. President Prof. P.L. Dharma - Registrar (Evaluation) Mangalore University was the President on this occasion. Gaonkar KSPS - Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime & Traffic) Mangaluru City, Mangaluru were the Chief Guests. The Guests of Honour were Rev. Fr. Alwin Serrao - Principal Padua College of Commerce & Management, Nanthur, Mangaluru, Dr. Harisha A. – Principal, University College, Mangaluru and Dr. Dayananda Naik – Principal, University First Grade College.
