Prof. Rajan V. N
He is an exceptional role model to all students and colleagues, created substantial, persistent impact on their success in life. He left his footprints during his service of 29 years as a lecturer as well as HOD of commerce at Sacred Heart College and 7 years as Principal of St. Mary’s College Shirva to attain superannuation on 30th April 2020.
He worked in almost in all capacities at college level. Besides his passion on teaching the subjects he has added values to students through add on courses, extra-curricular activities. He was a tech savvy teacher used his own projector, laptop and other gadgets to make student curious on various topics way back in 2000. He is in touch with more than 3000 students even now around the globe.
As a NAAC coordinator at Sacred Heart College, his initiative to issue library books to the parents and old students, documenting the activities of the college, College and Village collaborations enriched campus life. He had more than 500 student product projects in the department of commerce which were well appreciated by the NAAC peer team in the first cycle itself and secured B++ grade which is the highest grade to a college with just two programmes and less than 500 students. He proudly remember securing “A” grade to Sacred Heart College as the coordinator of Teaching, learning and evaluation criteria in the second cycle. Attended more than 80 State, national and international conferences and webinars. He is a soft skill trainer for students and resource person for several Faculty Development Programmesto college teachers also.Even after retirement he was the resource person to many webinars on the topic, “Onlineemployment opportunities to students” during pandemic period.
In 2013 he has been appointed as the Principal of St. Mary’s College, his administrative leadership, his knowledge and attitude to inspire the students and staff through positive interventions worth mentioning. During the 7 years the college secured 11Ranks and 2 Gold medals in academics, even 6 faculty memberssuccessful in NET &KSET exams. Several PG students also completed these exams. Travelled Mumbai and abroad to coordinate and strengthen alumni unit. Increased Alumni membership from 65 to 800 plus, renovated College auditorium in association with Alumni. College has many MOUs, Recognitions, and Collaborations and also strengthened the financial position of the college. He served as the Vice President of Private College Principal’s Association for one year and served as President of the association till his retirement. He also served as member of the Academic council of Mangalore University, Member of NSS advisory board, Distance education of Mangalore University.
At present he is also a member of Governing Board of Catholic Board of Education. Now his services are made available by the management at Padua College of Commerce and Management w.e.f. 12.07.2021.
